Finnish furniture maker Artek was founded in 1935. The company has been a pioneer of Finland's lighting and furniture landscape ever since. The Turnip A333 Suspension Lamp was designed by one of Finland's leading 20th century designers, Alvar Aalto, who created the lamp in the 1950s for a municipal Helsinki building.
The Turnip A333 Suspension Lamp has a pleasing biomorphic shape that injects a sense of natural tranquility into any space. The lamp remains as beautiful when turned off as it is when giving forth its appealing illumination. Light is emitted from the base and top, where it helps to highlight the beautiful shape of the shade. The main body of the shade is made from powder-coated steel and finished with an subtly ornate metal edging. The shade measures 20cm in height and 25.5cm in diameter. The pendant hangs up to 250cm from the ceiling, making it equally suitable for use over a dining table or in a hallway or foyer. It is also ideal for adding warmth to civil spaces and commercial settings such as hotels.
