Semi Suspension Lamp Ø60cm
The Semi Suspension Lamp Ø60cm has been created by Bonderup & Thorup for the brand Gubi. Its design was first seen in 1968 when the designers entered the lamp into a competition at an art school. They won first place and earned rave reviews upon production.
The design for the Semi Suspension Lamp Ø60cm was inspired by the quest to get away from soft, organic shapes that were dominating Denmark at the time. Rather, the duo aspired to design a geometric lamp with sharply defined, clean lines. They succeeded when they created a shape based on two quarter-circles enjoined back to back. The inverse joinery gave the lamp its unparalleled arch shape. The shade is made of enamelled aluminium and finished with a high gloss varnish. This is in keeping with the trend for gleaming shiny surfaces that emerged in the 1970s and stayed until the 80s. On the inside, the shade has an off-white matte finish that maximises the spread of light.
The Semi Suspension Lamp Ø60cm has a height of 30cm and a diameter of 60cm. Its cable is 400cm long and its canopy has a diameter of 11.5cm. It works with an E27 socket.
