Lederam Manta S2 LED Suspension Lamp
The stylish Lederam Manta S2 LED Suspension Lamp was designed by Enzo Catellani for his own iconic lighting company Catellani & Smith.
It's impossible to imagine this piece being created by anyone else. "In my workshop I need to feel the materials, to see how they play with light" explains Catellani. "The idea needs to take shape immediately". The Lederam Manta S2 LED Suspension Lamp perfectly captures this moment when the designer's concept suddenly comes into being as an object.
The choice of a rounded, abstract shape is a hallmark of this lighting range, combining the spontaneity of the idea with a love of organic, natural forms. The result could be compared to the work of Dali, but although this is undoubtedly a feature piece, it fits naturally into a range of interior styles and settings. The main section of the lamp consists of a large metal diffuser, which together with the slender batons - each with their own light metal dish - sheds a soft, indirect light that gently enhances the space around it. Catellani clearly loves the originality of the lamp, which would make a perfect focal point above a dining table, but he wisely sets no conditions, preferring to trust in the style and originality of his customers.
