Gong Side Table
The Gong Side Table was designed by Giulio Cappellini for his self-titled label. Radically simple in form, it consists of two metal discs linked by a cylindrical column and achieves a delicate harmony in the way these elements fit together. It will be a great outdoor or indoor coffee table or an addition to contemporary offices.
Cappellini is a giant of modern Italian design. He founded his eponymous design house in the late 1970s and it has become a global leader in introducing new furniture trends and production techniques. In the process, it has attracted some stellar names to its design stable, but the founder himself remains one of the most distinguished on the roster.
Introduced in 2004, the Gong Side Table is deceptively simple. 42cm tall and 50cm wide, it is a compact product that will fit neatly into most living rooms or lounge areas, adding a convenient bit of storage space for magazines, books and coffee cups.
