Embryo Chair
The Embryo Chair was created by Marc Newson for the Cappellini label. With its rounded composition and use of high-quality materials, it's the ideal accent piece to round off lounge areas, whether that's in your home or workspace.
Newson is a major presence on the world design scene, making contributions as diverse as fragrance bottles, bicycles and household chairs. He has won numerous awards, including the Good Design Award in his native Australia and the Design Excellence Award from Philadelphia's Museum of Art. His creativity is sought by corporations and individuals across the globe.
The Embryo Chair was unveiled in 1988 and still has a striking appearance. The composition features three steel legs, which form a frame to hold the concave polyurethane seat. On top of the domed seat, Newson elected to stretch a layer of bi-elastic fabric, adding an element of extra comfort to go alongside the seat itself, which is perfectly shaped to accommodate the human body.
Measuring 80 x 80 x 85 cm and weighing 20kg, the Embryo Chair is intended to provide a place to relax and think, maybe with a glass of wine or a good book.
