D1 Office Chair with Roller Frame
The D1 Office Chair with Roller Frame was designed by Stefan Diez for the brand Wagner.
The Bavaria-based company was founded in 1950 and is known for its innovative approach to seating. At the heart of its development is the drive to provide maximum comfort for those who spend many hours sitting either in their offices or at home and alleviate the stress on the body this produces. Wagner is among the world leaders in manufacturing swivel chairs and has won many coveted awards, including the German Innovation Gold Award in 2018 and the Red Dot Award in the same year.
Wagner's major breakthrough has been the patented "Dondola" seat mechanism, a pioneering system that allows for maximum flexibility. It brought in Diez, a leading industrial designer and former academic, to help produce the D1 Office Chair with Roller Frame. The Dondola technology allows for small movements which relieve the strain on the spinal cord and also help to strengthen the back. The benefits have been endorsed by two medical studies. The chair is lightweight, but strong, simple, yet elegant. A mesh fabric is stretched over a frame made of tubular steel. The seat has a height adjustment range of 10cm
