Bibendum Armchair Frame Chrome
The Bibendum Armchair Frame Chrome has been created by Eileen Gray for the brand Classicon. The late Irish architect and furniture designer Gray was a pioneer of the Modern Movement that introduced modern pieces for contemporary living. With her elegance and non-conformist creativity, she designed pieces that went on to become iconic and are still sort after today. The Bibendum Armchair Frame Chrome is one such piece. It is a departure from the norm, with two roll cushions joined together to form a backrest and armrests. The round seat is designed such that it looks like the armchair has three roll cushions. Inspired by the advertisement for the Michelin Man, the 1926 armchair that is also named after him has tyre-shaped rolls and a round seat that are cushioned with polyurethane with polyester fibre. Over this is placed premium qualityKvadrat or leather upholstery. The chair sits on a frame made of tubular steel that is finished with a black powder-coating or chrome plating.
