Ocean Armchair
The Ocean Armchair was created by Nanna Ditzel for the label Mater.
Nanna Ditzel was a popular Danish furniture and jewellery designer. Many of her designs received global recognition, and she is known for her hanging Egg Chair, which remains popular. Mater was founded in Copenhagen and has a solid reputation for the provision of sustainable products with minimalist designs, often based on Scandinavian principles.
The Ocean Armchair is part of the Ocean Collection, which received the Wallpaper Magazines Design award in 2019, and is a rework of Nanna Ditzel's original 1955 designs. The Ocean Collection of outdoor furniture is made from recycled plastic created from ocean waste, including 90% recycled fishnet and hard plastics. The armchair is available in different colours. The Ocean Chair has a metal frame and features four wide plastic slats running up the entire frame in a classic design. All elements of the product can be easily disassembled, to enable further re-use or upcycling. The chairs are can be easily stacked and measure 60cm in width, 81cm in height and have a depth of 56cm. The seat height is 46cm and the armrest height is 67cm.
