Utzon JU1 Suspension
The Utzon JU1 Suspension has been created by Jørn Utzon for the brand &Tradition.The lamp originally designed in 1947 is still appreciated today for its refined, timeless style. The designer was inspired by naval engineering drawings for ships.
The Utzon JU1 Suspension is made of lacquered brass and steel. T steel sheets have been used to make a tier of shades. The innermost shade is cylinder-shaped and broadens out into a top that is wider than the body. It is enclosed within another shade. This one is round with a bottom that is wider than the top. At the top, the lamp has a round support that conceals the wiring while holding the suspension cable that hangs from the ceiling. It also works to create the look of a third tier. It replicates the look of large sails on a ship. The shades are lacquered on the exterior and white on the inside. They cast a bright white light downwards.
The Utzon JU1 Suspension has a height of 22cm and a diameter of 23cm. Its textile cable has a length of 400cm. It cannot be dimmed and is available in neutral and metallic colours. It works with an E27 socket and a bulb has to be purchased separately.
