Kushi 16 Suspension Lamp
The Kushi 16 Suspension Lamp has been created by Alberto Saggia and Valerio Sommella for the brand Kdln. Kushi means 'skewer' in Japanese, and that's an apt name for this exotic pendant lamp. Designed to resemble food being skewered in Japanese cookery, Kushi is a creative take on standard suspension lamps, and also a highly practical option for illuminating medium sized rooms.
The Kushi 16 Suspension Lamp has a spherical diffuser made from mouth-blown opal glass. A slender central column runs through the core of this diffuser, with slightly depressed sections at either pole. This metal element connects to a 180cm long suspension cable, which in turn is anchored by a 12.5cm diameter ceiling canopy. The main unit is 26cm high while the diffuser has a diameter of 16cm.
The diffuser actually features two layers of blown glass, which helps to soften the light. The Kushi 16 Suspension Lamp can also be externally dimmed to create the perfect mood. The metallic column is available in a range of colours, including glossy brass, copper and black, and the lamp accommodates a single bulb inside the diffuser. The appropriate bulb with a G9 socket can be ordered under accessories.
