Fil de Fer Suspension Lamp
The Fil de Fer Suspension Lamp has been created by Enzo Catellani for the label Catellani & Smith. First designed in 1990s by Italian master Catellani, Fil de Fer did not come to fruition at the time. However, it has been rediscovered and released by Catellani & Smith, allowing its creative aluminium-based structure to show off its intricate beauty.
Literally meaning 'wire' in English, the Fil de Fer Suspension Lamp takes the form of an aluminium wire globe. Each wire-frame diffuser has been individually hand-crafted, giving it a unique composition. And each product creates a magical, complex glow thanks to the whirls and intersections of its metallic threads.
The shade of the Fil de Fer Suspension Lamp comes in three sizes: a small model with a 50cm diameter, a medium-sized model with a 70cm diameter and a larger version with a 100cm diameter. Weights vary from 7kg to 25kg, and all come with a hemispheric base made from nickel which connects to the sphere via a pair of cables. Plain aluminium and anodised gold versions are available, and all are Triac dimmable to configure the ideal atmosphere. Inside the shade, the lamp takes between 12 and 24 bulbs, and the appropriate G4 bulbs are included with the product.
