Cloud LED Suspension Lamp
The Cloud LED Suspension Lamp was created by Frank Owen Gehry for the Swiss label Belux.
Launched in the 1970s, Belux focuses on innovative lighting for the home and public spaces. Canadian-born Frank Owen Gehry has become an icon of modern design, known for his instantly recognisable buildings such as Bilbao's Guggenheim Museum as well as for his lighting and product design. Gehry has achieved numerous accolades including the Harvard Arts Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The Cloud LED Suspension Lamp was inspired both by the Akari lighting of Isamu Noguchi and nature's shapes. It is part of a lighting collection that looks just as effective in the home as in large public spaces. Each piece has a delicate paper-like shade made of polyester fleece. This sits on an aluminium frame and hides the acrylic glass light source. The shade is crimped and folded to resemble a cloud, and while each piece has the same basic structure, it can be individualised by pushing sections in and out. The Cloud LED Suspension Lamp is available in four diameters, 60cm, 65cm, 48cm and 52cm.
