Amp Suspension Lamp
The Amp Suspension Lamp was designed by Simon Legald for the manufacturer Normann.
Whilst restoring an old vintage radio from the 1960's, Legald found the glow from the tube amplifier completely fascinating. The basic oval shape of the Amp Suspension Lamp and its glow refer back to what he saw in this moment and its name comes from the term 'tube amplifier'. Although Legald has admitted that he doesn't always know where he gets his inspiration from, this time it was definitely from radio and hi-fi equipment.
There's something unique about the oval, transparent shape of the suspension lamp, which also displays an exquisite attention to detail, with the designer having really emphasised certain features. Take, for example, the lip on the base and the curved transparent glass case, which allows the light from the decorative light bulb to radiate through, flooding any room with a lovely glow. Solid marble is also used at the top of the design and, along with the glass, evokes a nostalgic yet modern feeling. This lamp will take up little space when hung in any room. It comes in two heights of 17cm or 26cm tall.
