The A1972 Suspension Lamp with Counterweight has a cone-shaped shade made of natural bamboo. The slats are sewn by hand onto a pleated mat. They are then attached to the frame made of wire with a liner separating them. Apart from the aesthetics, they serve the purpose of directing light downwards which creates a halo of light around the lamp in addition to the light that is cast upwards through the bamboo slats. The designer is known for his affinity for brass and it has been used here for the counterweight. Made of single-milled brass, the counterweight allows you to adjust the height of the lamp using a pulley system. The metal has also been used for the fixture that holds the light source underneath the shade including a canopy that caps it. The lamp needs two bulbs, and has a disc shaped diffuser that clicks into place to soften the light cast. You can twist the centre handle to secure the disc in place.
The A1972 Suspension Lamp with Counterweight has a height of 20.3cm and a diameter of 56cm. Its textile cable is 380cm long. The lamp works with two E27 sockets and the bulbs have to be purchased separately. The manufacturer recommends frosted bulbs.
