The B 20 Coffee Table Ash was designed by the in-house design team for the brand Thonet.
Founded in the late 19th century, Thonet has been pushing the boundaries of furniture design ever since. The label rose to fame due to its pioneering use of tubular steel, creating forms that were marked by complete clarity and technical quality. Its classically-inspired creations still continue to mix the best of modernist German design with the latest materials and techniques.
The B 20 Coffee Table Ash debuted in 2009 but was informed by 1920s Bauhaus ideas. Minimalist to the point of almost fading into the background, this superbly engineered table evokes the spirit of the Bauhaus movement, offering a premium design for the 21st century. It has a rectangular format with curved edges, and employs a blend of gleaming steel tubes with the pure MDF board that comprises the table top. Nothing is out of place or excessive. Instead, this 80 x 36 x 80 cm table succeeds with its understated elegance and grace. This particular model weighs 13kg, and can be moved anywhere in the home safely and easily via its tubular base. Other sizes are also available if required.
