Ptolomeo Book Stand 75
The Ptolomeo Book Stand 75 was designed by Bruno Rainaldi for the manufacturer Opinion Ciatti.
Three generations of the Ciatti family have steered this company into its current position as one of the most influential brands in Italian design. Based in Milan, Bruno Rainaldi has enjoyed a long and varied career as a designer, specialising in pieces which marry inventiveness with functionality. He was the artistic director of Opinion Ciatti for 5 years, and he's also professor of design at Milan's Brera Academy. He is a winner of the coveted Compasso d'Oro Award.
Bruno Rainaldi is particularly known for his ingenious storage solutions and the Ptolomeo Book Stand 75 is a prime example. Standing 75cm high, 25cm wide and 25cm deep, it consists of a sturdy stainless steel framework into which books and magazines can be slotted. This version holds approximately 30 volumes larger versions are also available . When the stand is completely filled, it creates the impression of a self-supporting pile of books. Lacquered in a range of monochrome finishes, it is a versatile alternative to traditional bookcases and fixed shelving, something that can be moved from room to room and slipped into convenient corners.
