K/Wood Armchair Leather
The patented K/Wood Armchair Leather was designed by the artistic director Philippe Starck for the internationally recognised manufacturer Kartell.
Having won 9 international awards Compassi d'Oro design awards , the label embarked on collaborations with prestigious architects and inventors in a search for new styles, technologies and forms with the same passion as the founder Giulio Castelli. Kartell invited Phillipe Starck to give their Smart Wood collection a completely new look with composite materials full of curves and finesse. Phillipe Starck's career encompasses over 10,000 creations.
The K/wood Armchair Leather was among the first experiments that involved the moulding of plywood into intricate shapes. This unique armchair is made of a slatted ash wood seat covered in leather upholstery, with a base frame of lacquered steel. Measuring 68 x 110 x 68 cm, the K/wood Armchair Leather uses an FSC® certified controlled wood production technology. With a seat height of 40cm and an armrest 61cm high, it has a total weight of 8.5kg, making it easily portable. The moulded wood reveals sinuous lines with enfolding curves that offer total comfort. Ash lumber is simply wood residues, so its use minimises deforestation.
