CH07 Shell Chair Lounge Chair
The CH07 Shell Chair Lounge Chair has been created by Hans J. Wegner for the brand Carl Hansen. The late Wegner is credited with driving the Danish modernism movement forward. He is also credited with putting Scandinavian design front and centre with his innovative yet functional designs. First produced in 1963, the CH07 Shell Chair Lounge Chair received prestigious awards and a broad fan base when Carl Hansen reintroduced it in 1998. Also known as the 'smiling chair' or three-legged shell chair, this chair indeed has three rather than the four customary legs. The three legs are angled outwards rather than straight, giving it stability. The legs, the wing-like seat with sides curving upwards and inwards and a backrest tilted backwards make it appear to float. The frame is made from form-tensioned walnut or oak veneer while the seat and back cushions are fashioned from polyurethane foam. It is upholstered in premium quality Thor leather.
