Schellmann has long been a giant of the transatlantic art world, publishing numerous books and creating iconic installations since the 1960s. In the 2000s, he branched out into product design, becoming an equally revered furniture designer for labels like e15 - a major German brand which blends artistic sense and practical functionality. The Sitz Bench appeared alongside the Platz table, and the two products can be combined together or used as standalone pieces.
Introduced in 2013, the name means "seat" in German, which is an appropriately simple name for a minimalist masterpiece. The Sitz Bench is made from beautiful oiled oak, giving it an earthy, organic feel. It stands out with a diagonal strut placed end to end, adding extra support but not making the whole product seem cluttered or bulky. Measuring 180cm long, 40cm wide and 47cm tall, it can easily harmonise with most dinner tables and will look exceptional in traditional or modern interiors.
