The Tibu Bar Stool Upholstered 60-70cm was designed by Torbjorn Anderssen and Espen Voll for the manufacturer Magis.
This award-winning Italian firm is known for its pioneeringly innovative furniture in metal and plastic. Key figures in the influential Norway Says Studio and 'New Nordic' design movement, Anderssen and Voll have done much to elevate the reputation of Norwegian design over recent decades. They match traditional Norwegian metalworking skills with a sharp modern sensibility to create pieces with powerful forms and clean lines. In addition to developing numerous projects, Anderssen writes regularly on design and holds a professorial chair at Bergen National Academy of the Arts.
Available in two standard heights, the Tibu Bar Stool Upholstered 60-70cm from Magis is constructed primarily from tubular steel coated in thick, glossy polyester powder paint. Measuring 37 cm wide, the rotating seat is moulded from polyurethane and upholstered in a textured fabric manufactured by leading Danish textile firm Kvadrat. It is concave in the centre for extra comfort. The simple, functional shape of the footrest nods back to early 20th century bentwood furniture, but the overall feel of the Tibu Bar Stool Upholstered 60-70cm is vibrantly contemporary.
