1025 Side Table
The 1025 Side Table was designed by James Van Vossel for the brand Thonet.
The renowned furniture manufacturing company Thonet was originally based in Vienna in the early 19th century. Finding international fame with bentwood furniture and their world-famous Vienna Cafe Chair, the company began to expand, producing classic designs as well as steel tube furniture. The elegant 1025 Side Table by James Van Vossel emphasises his approach to modern design solutions. Born in Belgium in 1977, Van Vossel studied furniture design at the Vomo College in Mechelen, Antwerp.
This intriguing side table has a robust steel and MDF frame. The three wooden legs are set at 120 degree intervals to depict an imaginary circle on the floor. A timeless structural feature creating an illusion of a twist when seen from different angles. The different grains of the wooden legs are tapered downwards, providing a contrast to the circular table top. The 1025 Side Table measures 48cm in height with a diameter of 45cm and weighs 5kgs.
