D1 Low Lounge
The D1 Low Lounge was designed by Stefan Diez for the brand Wagner.
Stefan Diez spent a number of years as a professor of industrial design. This background informs his work on this piece, which was a winner of the prestigious Red Dot and German Innovation Awards, and was also shortlisted for a German Design Award.
Its angular, pared back looks give the D1 Low Lounge a strong visual impact, but there's a lot going on beneath the surface, too. At the heart of the design is Wagner's proprietary Dondola joint, which provides smooth, spring-loaded support along multiple axes. Equally important is the strong, lightweight carbon fibre and metal frame. This is upholstered in GXO, a sturdy, long lasting polyester, polyamide and elastane blend. The seat height can be adjusted through a range of 38 to 44 cm, and the backrest can be raised from 85 to 91cm.
Offering state of the art, flexible support wrapped up in a chiselled silhouette, the D1 Low Lounge makes a striking addition to contemporary homes and workspaces alike, just as inviting whether you want to catch up on your reading or enjoy a glass of wine.
