Bertoia Plastic Side Chair Frame Chromed
The Bertoia Plastic Side Chair Frame Chromed was created for Knoll International by the Italian-American design legend Harry Bertoia, who was one of the twentieth centuries greatest product designers.
The chair itself was designed when Bertoia was at his creative peak, debuting in 1956. However, when the centenary of his birth approached, Knoll International decided to mark the event by reintroducing some of Bertoia's iconic designs with the incorporation of modern materials and manufacturing techniques. The result was this polypropylene seat that has a timeless aesthetic appeal and all of the practical advantages of using strong, vibrantly coloured modern plastics.
It isn't a coincidence that Knoll chose to bring the Bertoia Plastic Side Chair Frame Chromed back into service. In 1956, Bertoia won the Designer of the Year Award for designs like this chrome chair and followed this by earning a constant stream of awards until his death in 1978.
