VL Ring Crown 1 Wall Lamp
The VL Ring Crown 1 Wall Lamp was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen for Louis Poulsen.
Since its launch over a century ago, Louis Poulsen has been creating innovative lighting that blends archive designs with contemporary touches. Vilhelm Lauritzen was a renowned member of the Danish functionalism movement in design. He won many architecture and design awards including the Royal Danish Academy Medal.
The VL Ring Crown 1 Wall Lampwas reworked in 2019 from a 1940s design originally created by Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting House in Copenhagen. A downlighter of mouth-blown, three-layered and polished opal glass creates a downward pool of bright light and a warm glow to the sides. This globe is supported by an elegantly curved arm and a circular wall plate of untreated satin polished brass. This brass develops an attractive patina over time. The design, which has been used in other public buildings in Denmark, also suits domestic interiors such as bedrooms, living rooms and home offices. The VL Ring Crown 1 Wall Lampis complemented by single and multiple-light pendants and measures 19cm in width, 23.3cm in height and 27.5cm in depth.
