VL 56 Suspension Lamp
The VL 56 Suspension Lamp has been designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen for the brand Louis Poulsen. Originally designed by the famous functionalist architect for the Danish Labour Movement Hall in the 1950s, this metal pendant light has been updated over the years by Louis Poulsen to take on some new design enhancements.
The VL 56 Suspension Lamp is made from brass, which is treated in contrasting polished and high-gloss chrome-plating for an eye-catching finish. The lamp has a height of 36.3cm, a diameter of 17.7cm and a cable length of 400cm. The diffuser has a diameter of 17.7cm and it weighs 1.5kg.
The VL 56 Suspension Lamp is designed as a downward-hanging pendant light that emits glare-free, clear light in a downward direction. A soft transition between light and shade is created by the addition of perforations in the opening of the pendant light. These create a beautiful radial pattern on the shade itself and nearby surfaces. The raw brass surface is designed to achieve a patina over time, but this can be removed as wished with a specialist cleaning agent. The lamp can be cleaned with a damp cloth but must be dried completely after doing so.
